Conversely, a person who is not happy is usually someone who harbors secret thoughts of dissatisfaction, who suffers from discouragement, and who lives a harsh and difficult life. He may work hard, but he does not see the good in things and tends to look on bad days as opportunities to learn and grow. He tends to spend money lavishly, spends too much on his appearance, and suffers from poor health and hygiene. He tends to reject the things of life that are pleasant and pursue only those things that bring him money. He believes that happiness is living in abundance and having material possessions that others want. If this person's work involves spending time with other people, he feels unhappy and consequently loses the ability to be happy.

While a happy person's thoughts and feelings play an important role in his happiness, so does his physical being. For a happy person to be able to experience happiness, he has to be healthy and physically fit. It is he who exercises and keeps himself in shape. This includes his mind, since a person's thoughts determine his mental and emotional state. Thus, if a person is not happy with his state of mind, he will not be able to find happiness through exercising and keeping himself in good physical shape.

A healthy, contented and peaceful mind is happy and therefore happiness definition is all about achieving happiness through peace in one's life. In addition to this, a person has to learn to forgive others and love them because this helps him to create inner peace and to experience happiness. It also helps him to love himself, which is essential for happiness definition.
