Is it true that the benefits of butter are beneficial for the heart and cardiovascular system? The fat in butter is partially hydrogenated. It is also referred to as "butter oil" by nutritionists. What's interesting about that is that butter and margarine contain SMFAs, or saturated fats that raise bad cholesterol levels and raise LDL cholesterol levels, the "bad" cholesterol.

One of the reasons butter is beneficial is because it contains calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, and sodium. So, this food is very nutritious. Another reason butter is good for you is because it has "good cholesterol," or HDL, in it. Butter is one of only a few foods that contains Vitamin D, essential to healthy bones and teeth. Low-fat milk may be high in calories and fat content, but it's still very nutritious.

Another reason people enjoy eating it is because it is a natural moisturizer. Many people prefer to eat the butter made from organic grass-fed cows. Grass-fed cows have been fed an annual diet of certified organic grains and are allowed to roam freely outside their corrals. Organic butter is the highest grade available, but many companies will make it available in "raw" form, meaning, it hasn't been pasteurized. Raw butter has the highest nutrient content.

In addition to being natural, it is also good for weight loss. When I was a teenager, my best friend's father would take us shopping, and he'd buy whole milk and butter and put those in his car. That's just one of the many ways butter intake can help fight obesity. The United States Department of Agriculture suggests limiting butter intake to between two and three ounces per day for women and between four and six ounces for men.

Some of the benefits of butter and margarine aren't just about personal health. These products are also good for the environment. As I mentioned above, butter is made from all natural products, so you don't have to worry about pesticides or other harmful chemicals. Also, organic butter and margarine are produced from cattle that are fed not only organic food but also grass-fed pastures and grains that don't use harmful additives.

I'm not saying you should totally remove butter from your diet. If you're already trying to lose weight, or you're concerned about heart disease, or any of the other serious health problems associated with high intake of saturated fats, then eliminating butter from your diet may not be the best thing for you. But you can certainly increase the amount of butter you consume, and that's another one of the health benefits of butter. And it's something you can get almost everywhere-you can get it at your local super-market, or even at your grocery store.
